Letter From the Chairman

There are a lot of people speculating about the future of television and
this industry's relationship with it. Yes, digital is growing at light-speed,
yes social media has exploded and changed the world. But with more
messages in more mediums than ever before, the solid fundamentals
of our industry remain unchanged -big ideas break through. It's still that
simple. And we'll celebrate these ideas and the people who conceived
them and who brought them to life. That's what today is about. IDEAS.
It's not about emerging technologies. It's about what we do best in this
country. We kick ass at ideas and we have been for a long time. TV is
not dead and it's not dying anytime soon. In fact, it's getting better, more
emotional, funnier. If people have the power to fast forward through
commercials, we need to give them a reason not to. The way things are
going means that television is only going to get better, not worse. Look
at the super-bowl. People specifically watch it to see the television
commercials. What an amazing thing that is. I think that's where we
have to be headed to in the future. We need to give people a reason to
watch, a reason not to hit fast forward. And the work in this years show
is evidence that that's where we're headed. I hope you enjoy it as much
as the judges and I did.
